I love the lessons I learn through my children. I often contemplate my relationship with them and how it must be so similar to the relationship of me (as the child) and my Heavenly Father. I have always struggled to feel and understand how my Heavenly Father could really have so much love for ME as we are taught that He does.
Then I learned a great lesson with my son. He did something naughty. I was very unhappy with his choices (He let anger get the best of him and stabbed his brother with the scissors). But no matter what he DOES it doesn't change my love for him. I will always love him. As I was comforting him after the altercation, I told him "You don't have to earn my love. No matter what you do, I will always love you."
I pondered on these words that I expressed to my sweet son and thought how does it work? Where does this unconditional love come from that I have for my son? And then I realized, it all stems from the fact that Trevor is MINE. I love him because he is mine. He is flesh of my flesh and blood of my blood and because ALL I do is for him, all I care about is him, all I want is for him to be happy. My world revolves around him. He gives me purpose. He gives me joy. Without him, what would there be worthwhile to live for? He is mine, he is my son, my responsibility, my mini-me, the complete mirror-image of me in male form and I love him faults and all because He is mine. I gladly I also know his uniqueness, his strengths and his goodness and his limitless amazing potential that doesn't change because of some poor actions and choices he may make. I created you with my love. I love you because you are mine.

Power in the Priesthood
I know their is power in the priesthood. It is real and miraculous. The priesthood has blessed my life countless ways and countless times. Most recently it was through blessings to my son Tyson and to my husband Josh.
This week Tyson hasn't been eating. He acts hungry but doesn't want any of the variety of choices and options I have given him. In the mornings he wakes up so hungry but gets mad when I try to give him his bottle or cereal, etc. He throws big crying fits, squirming around and arching his back, flailing around so much I can't hold him so I gently drop him to the floor as he continues to cry and squirm and roll around on the floor and bang his head, etc. After days of this, I was ready to take him in to the doctor to see if he had strep or something. (He is teething as well.) Early one morning Josh joined me in Tyson's room, watching him through his fit for at least 15 minutes. Josh offered to give him a priesthood blessing. I held Tyson and Josh layed his hands on Tyson's 16 month old head and gave him a blessing that he would eat, and he would choose good healthy choices of food to eat. When the blessing was over Tyson looked up at his Dad with a huge smile. He was calm and did not start throwing a fit again. It's been several days and he hasn't acted that way since. He immediately went to the kitchen and started eating oatmeal and food. It was an immediate miracle!
Last week we had quite a scare with Josh. 10 days ago on a Wednesday, a bump showed up on the right side of his neck like a zit. Thursday morning it was about the size of a quarter, huge, red, inflamed. He took Trevor and Tage and left for scout camp in the big horn mountains around 9:30am Thursday morning. Josh told me he felt fine and went to bed around 11pm that night. Around 2 am he was getting the chills and could feel he was getting sick. He rapidly got worse. By 5 am he was feeling his body shutting down. He was going unconscious, throwing up and completely weak. He knew he could stay in bed and that he would die. The thought of death and resurrection sounded so good and peaceful. But he also thought of me and our family and couldn't bare the thought to leave us. So he had to act fast and fight for his life. He knew he needed to get to the hospital fast. He miraculously climbed down 4 bunk beds and woke up Bishop Brandon Smith, Mike Lougee and Adam Milmont. He received a priesthood blessing and then they sped down the mountain to the Buffalo hospital. Josh was in the hospital from Friday morning 6am, until Sunday at noon. He was on two antibiotics, and oxygen and heavy fluids to help with his low blood pressure. His neck was very swollen and huge. They diagnosed it as cellulitis. He was very very sick. After he was discharged he was on bedrest for a week and on antibiotics around the clock every 3 hours for 10 days. His healing was truly a miracle. The whole time I was completely at peace and calm. I am so grateful that he is still with me. He is my life, my sunshine, my rock. He is my best friend, he is one of the few things worth living for. I am so grateful he is still here, to bless and help our family! I love him with all my heart and would crumble without him.
